Aloha Bobcat Ohana!

Full moon... Mercury and Venus are in retrograde…Character Parade Friday…Halloween Saturday…Clock change Sunday…Election Day Tuesday…Polar Vortex sweeping through the country…and in spite of all that, great teaching and learning continue to happen at Palm Lake 😊!    I hope you are surviving and thriving as well!

Our students and staff pulled out all of the stops Friday as we held our annual Character Parade around campus and through our Brookdale Senior Living community.  It was great to see so many parents out here cheering on our students.  A special thank you goes out to DEZERLAND Park for sharing the Ghostbusters car with us to complete the Admin Team’s 80s theme throwback.  I know the kids enjoyed a chance to show off in their costumes, and I hope you enjoyed it as well.

This week, we have Jack Hartmann coming to perform and engage with our kindergarten students as part of our Guest Artist series.  Jack Hartmann is a nationally known musician whose music is research-based and teacher-approved, focusing on helping children learn important state, national, and early childhood standards.  It is a great morning of singing, dancing, and learning.
Friday, our fifth graders will have a presentation from the Orlando Science Center and the Orlando Utilities Commission (OUC) about energy to support their classroom learning.  Please remember that all of these events require a signed permission slip in order for our students to participate.

Some of our students were filmed for an infomercial about our upcoming Visual and Performing Arts Scholastic Academy (VPA).  It will take a few weeks before the final version is ready for distribution, so stay tuned for its release 😊

I wish you well,

Jim

Teach-In

Teach-In

Each November, in celebration of American Education Week, the Foundation for Orange County Public Schools brings parents, community members, and business leaders into the classrooms - in a fun and engaging way - to talk with students about academics, careers, and the future.

On behalf of Palm Lake Elementary School, we invite you to present to one or more classes as part of this community-wide effort - Teach-In 2026 - Wednesday, November 18, between the hours of 9:00 am and 1:30 pm.  It’s simple to participate, and you can volunteer as much time as your schedule permits.

Teach-In highlights the importance of bringing together teachers, school staff, parents, students, and the entire community in a unified effort to build great public schools. Simply contact your child’s teacher, or call the school office at 407-354-2610, or email Michelle Pignolet at  michelle.pignolet@ocps.net.

Please note that all Teach-In participants must be approved OCPS ADDitions volunteers.  You can find the ADDitions application at ocps.net and follow the link labeled “Volunteers,” or click here to get started.

Teach-In is truly a special experience for our volunteers and for our students.

We can't wait to hear from you!

Thank you for all of your help during our Fall Fundraiser and for helping us reach our goal.  Please see the special message below about our next PTA meeting and get all the exciting details first-hand!

Hello Palm Lake Families! 💙💛
We would love to invite you to our next PTA General Meeting on Thursday, November 5th at 9:00 AM!
Our PTA meetings are a great way to stay informed about what's happening at Palm Lake Elementary, hear about upcoming events and initiatives, and learn how we can continue working together to make our school the best it can be!
We want EVERYONE to feel included and have the opportunity to participate!
We know that busy schedules can make it difficult to attend meetings in person, so we're excited to introduce something NEW! 🎉
💻 NEW! VIRTUAL MEETING OPTION
For the first time, we will be offering a Microsoft Teams link so families who cannot attend in person can still join us remotely!
Since this is our first time trying a virtual meeting option, we ask for a little patience as we work through any technical hiccups. Our school's Wi-Fi can sometimes be a bit spotty, so please bear with us if we experience any connection issues. We appreciate your understanding as we explore ways to make our meetings more accessible to everyone!
A few things to know about joining virtually:
  • 🎧 Listen In: Virtual attendees will be able to listen to the meeting and stay informed about everything being discussed.
  • 🔇 Microphones Muted: To help keep the meeting running smoothly, virtual attendees will not be able to verbally participate or engage in discussions with those attending in person or online.
  • 💬 Questions Welcome! A PTA Board Member will be monitoring the Teams chat throughout the meeting, so please feel free to type any questions you may have!
