Finally! The best time of the year has arrived in full. Our 5th-grade team got us revved up and ready to go for the beginning of Football season. The annual tailgate party was a great success as our students celebrated a strong pre-season and the anticipation of a great season ahead, both on the field and in the classroom.
Our first round of testing is largely behind us, procedures are in place, and we have settled into the business of our day-to-day learning. Parents, please be sure to check backpacks and ParentSquare daily for important messages from the school, district and your child’s teacher.
Some of you may have noticed that we’ve had quite a bit of rain in the afternoons, especially around dismissal time. Please see the section below, “Failure to Launch,” to learn about delayed dismissals for our students' safety.
Please check out the rest of the Blast! to learn more about our Guidance and Student Support Team and to get advance notice of the wonderful things our PTA is doing. If you haven’t already, please consider supporting our PTA by joining for only $10 per family. Included with your membership is a Spirit Discount Card for several participating local businesses, as a thank-you for joining the PTA!
Wednesday is Fall Picture Day, and we are looking forward to seeing our bobcats all spiffed up. Trying to keep elementary schoolers looking picture-perfect past morning drop-off is like trying to keep a cotton candy cone intact in a rainstorm. By 9:00, the freshly combed hair has surrendered to gravity, the tucked-in shirts are flying free, and somehow someone already has syrup on their elbow. But we will do our best to keep them as close to the way you send them in as we can.
Don’t forget, Monday, Labor Day, is a school holiday! I hope you have a great 3-day weekend.
I wish you well,
Jim
